Aerie Africa, Inc., is a 501(c)3 registered non-profit committed to improving the lives of orphaned children in Africa. We have built and support a childrenʼs home in Soddo, Ethiopia where the children, for a variety of reasons, are not available for adoption. Each child has an American sponsor who makes an annual financial contribution to Aerie Africa to help meet their daily needs and serve as a source of encouragement and mentoring. The sponsorship donation covers about 60% of budget for the orphanage. The Board fundraises the rest of the money to meet the financial obligations. All donations are tax deductible and all but a very small percentage of the money raised is spent in Ethiopia. We appreciate all the many talented volunteers who keep this organization running with minimal US administration costs.

Your support can make big changes in the community of Soddo. The dollars raised can go far in Ethiopia.  By paying our Ethiopian staff, who lovingly care for the children, living wages, they in turn are able to send their own children to school. Also, by purchasing supplies in Soddo we help support the local economy and businesses.

Below are some examples of what the money raised can provide.

$2 - a rain coat for the monsoon season
$5 - prescription eyeglasses
$20 - food for one young adult in the Aerie transition home for one month
$60 - salary for a Nanny for one month
$80 - one year of school tuition and fees for one child
$140 - will buy three sheep to be raised for milk, food, and to expand the flock
$200 - housing for 10 young adults for one month in the Aerie transition home
